
Vocational Rehabilitation Coordination
In providing Vocational Rehabilitation Coordination services GENEX Care for Ohio abides by its role as defined by the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC). Offering an individualized and voluntary program GENEX Care for Ohio provides vocational rehabilitation to eligible injured workers needing assistance in safely returning to work or in retaining employment. The GENEX Care for Ohio Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator is responsible for directing these services and is accountable for communicating with the BWC and keeping GENEX Care for Ohio staff aware of vocational rehabilitation issues.
GENEX Care for Ohio Vocational Rehabilitation staff will have the ability to:
- Integrate vocational, educational, physical and psychological data
- Understand testing and measurement concepts
- Analyze and document an injured worker’s transferable skills and write transferable skills analysis reports
- Conduct labor market surveys (LMS) and write LMS reports
- Conduct and write job analyses
- Identify the essential functions of a job
- Establish realistic vocational goals based upon the injured worker’s skills, abilities, labor market and the BWC vocational hierarchy
- Evaluate at the time of referral the injured worker’s ability to participate in vocational services and assess on an ongoing basis the continued need for these services for return-to-work outcomes
- Develop and write sound vocational reports
- Monitor an injured worker’s progress and be able to recognize when current interventions are not effective and appropriately intercede
- Effectively communicate with the injured worker, employer, physician and others
- Identify appropriate job accommodations for an injured worker and develop job modifications
- Understand disability management concepts including BWC’s early return to work initiatives
