Director of Public Relations

I hope you enjoyed your summertime respite from the busy workers’ comp conference circuit, because next week, our wake-up call is coming. That’s when thousands of us will board flights to Orlando to attend the grand kickoff of conference goer season with the 2018 Workers’ Compensation Institute (WCI) Annual Conference, Aug. 19-22.

Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, you’ll find that WCI offers a unique blend of education and fun that you probably haven’t experienced at other workers’ comp events. So, with that in mind, here’s my list of top five things to love about this year’s conference.

Innovative sessions

Aside from the exhibit hall breaks, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any downtime during WCI. That’s because the session schedule is packed with informative topics from start to finish.  At the top of my must-attend list is Tuesday afternoon’s session “Diversity and Inclusion – Objective Examples of Meaningful Inclusion.” The panel, which includes Genex’s Chikita Mann, will address how diversity and inclusion mean more than “doing the right thing,” and offer objective evidence of positive business results to prove it.

Alliance of Women in Workers’ Compensation Day

This leading association gets a primetime spot at WCI with a Wednesday morning half-day track filled with informative business leadership sessions. The Alliance is dedicated to the advancement of women in workers’ comp, but everyone is encouraged to participate in the innovative sessions which draws many leading players in the field. Don’t miss the session “Understanding the Importance of Business Financial Acumen,” which features a panel of C-level execs including Genex’s COO Delphia Frisch.

B52s!

You don’t have to be a child of the ‘80s (like me) to be psyched about this year’s Monday night entertainment. The B52s is one of the best party bands ever and offer the perfect kickoff to WCI social activities!

Exhibit Hall

The WCI exhibit hall not only lends itself to great networking opportunities, but the theme-based booths are a lot of fun. When you get a chance, please be sure to stop and say hello to me and my colleagues at the Genex booth #709.

Mickey Express

No matter where you’re flying from, your trip to WCI will include several bright-eyed, first-time flyers who are overwhelmed with excitement about a trip to Disney World. Embrace their enthusiasm and get ready for a fun-filled trip of your own!
