National
In an effort to help alleviate the nation’s opioid epidemic, Bill S. 2456, also known as the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA 2.0) of 2018, was introduced in the Senate Feb. 27. The bill’s language builds on the original CARA of 2016, calling for increased funding authorization levels to better coincide with the recent budget agreement.
CALIFORNIA
The state DWC has updated its Drug Formulary (MTUS Drug List) per the Administrative Director’s Order. The update became effective May 15.
IDAHO
The state Industrial Commission has adopted the updated EDI Requirement Tables Version 2.1.
NEW YORK
The Workers’ Compensation Board has announced an update of its list of providers who are authorized to treat injured workers under the workers’ compensation system May 2.
NORTH CAROLINA
The Industrial Commission has announced its Rules for the Utilization of Opioids, Related Prescriptions, and Pain Management in Workers’ Compensation Claims (04 NCAC 10M .0101-.0501) went into effect May 1.
OHIO
Final adoption of the Bureau Fee Schedule has been published and became effective May 1.
Also, the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation has announced the Outpatient and Ambulatory Service Center (ASC) fee schedules have been updated and became effective May 1.
TENNESSEE
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development has finalized Chapter 0800-02-20 of the Medical Impairment Rating Registry Program. The updates took effect May 9. The DOL also updated Chapter 0800-02-01 of the Workers’ Compensation Program, which will take effect May 31.
UTAH
The state legislature has updated the Workers’ Compensation Health Care Amendments (SB 64). The updates became effective May 8.
