Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Event Details
"Head injury" or "traumatic head injury" is defined as a sudden insult or damage to the brain or its coverings, not of a degenerative nature. Such insult or damage may produce an altered state of consciousness and may result in a decrease of one or more of the following: mental, cognitive, behavioral or physical functioning resulting in partial or total disability.
Head injury/Brain Injury is a major cause of long-term disability in child and adult populations. For this reason, brain injury has major economic and social, as well as medical implications. This course will raise awareness of the incidence and management of severe brain injury and the diagnoses and management of concussions. Adjusters will gain valuable insight into these injuries and examples of guidelines to use to assess the validity of these claims.
