GENEX supervisor brings extensive case management experience to certification organization

September 16, 2015 – Wayne, Pa. — Chikita Mann, RN, MSN, CCM, case manager supervisor for Georgia at GENEX Services, was recently elected to serve as a board member for the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC).

As a new commissioner, Mann will serve on a board that governs one of the most active and prestigious certification organizations supporting the case management industry. CCMC is the first and largest nationally accredited organization that certifies case managers, with more than 37,000 professionals holding the Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential.

Mann will be involved in maintaining and advancing the Commission's efforts to promote consumer protection, quality case management practice, ethical standards and behavior, scientific knowledge development and dissemination through the CCM credential.

"This all-volunteer board brings energy and solid commitment to leadership," said Patrice Sminkey, the Commission's CEO. "With backgrounds ranging from geriatric nursing to social work, disability case management and academic leadership, our commissioners champion professional case management excellence through certification, education and advocacy programs and services."

A Commission volunteer for the past eight years, Mann's experience in case management plays a prominent role in her position as a GENEX disability case manager supervisor, where she is responsible for workers' compensation, short- and long- term disability and legal nurse consulting services. She views her new commissionership as a great opportunity to enhance the case manager's role on multidisciplinary teams in all areas of health care.

“I firmly believe that case management certification is the avenue to ensure the utilization of competent and knowledgeable case managers who understand and practice a holistic approach to patient care,” Mann said. “As an elected leader of the board, I look forward to advancing the Commission's mission and vision of case management so it is always viewed and accepted as a vital component in improving the quality and delivery of health care.”

Mann is one of twelve commissioners who serve on the CCMC board. She will serve a four-year term before she is up for reelection in 2019.
